So I've been trying to kind of reconnect to my family's heritage through food as an adult, so one of my go-tos has become Filipino style adobo. Preferably made with pork belly (chunked up) but it's hard to find pork belly that's not thinly sliced around here, so I tend to use chicken breast. Chop it into bite sized pieced or so, and then it gets cooked in an equal mix of vinegar (apple cider or white) and soy sauce, with lots of black pepper, bay leaves, and garlic. Optional minced ginger and/or coconut milk. And then you can cook it in a crock pot on low for like 6 ish hours, on high for like 4, or in a pot on the stove for, I don't know, an hour or two? You mostly want the meat to be tender and flavorful. And then serve it with white rice, usually as more of a soup.

I can also try to remember to grab the recipes for pineapple chicken (also a stew that's served with white rice) or maybe the really good garlic pork chops (off the top of my head, I think they're marinated in apple cider vinegar and lots of whole garlic cloves and then they and the garlic are fried over medium high to high heat so they get kinda crispy, and you use thinner pork chops for it so they have a chance to get crispy and it's just a delicious, garlicky dish, and you'd serve that with rice and a vegetable).

Wait, okay, I do have a couple others that are sinpler, tasty dishes.

"Happy Chicken/Shrimp", I can't remember where I found the recipe, but it was originally shrimp and I've also made it with chicken, you add the protein to the pan with a bit of lemon juice and white wine/cooking wine, cook down the white wine a bit, then add heavy cream and simmer until it's reduced by about half. Seasonings for that are italian seasonings and garlic, sometimes I also add red pepper flakes. Essentially scampi, but creamy.

Curried coconut shrimp/chicken: Another recipe that started out with shrimp that I then tried with chicken. Add several tablespoons of butter to a pan and melt it. Add enough curry powder to turn that into a paste and then let it cook for a bit to release the good curry flavors. Add the protein and stir to coat in the paste. Add a can of coconut milk, and cook until it's thickened and the protein is fully cooked. More soup like consistency, served over rice.

Mushroom masala is also stupidly easy to make. Add mushrooms to a pan with a fat (oil or butter), cook them down a bit, add marsala wine and let some of the alcohol cook out, add heavy cream (about as much as the marsala), simmer until it coats a spoon. Option substitution sherry for the marsala makes a really good sherry version. Serve over pasta or rice. Can also add chicken.

It was really delicious. My fiancée doesn't really care for carrots, so we did the optional potatoes instead of carrots. The "warm comfort dish" claim is very true, the blend of spices is nice and warm and comforting, and we both loved it. And unlike my other suggestions, this one actually has vegetables included in the recipe!

i finally started playing season three and i LOVE it so far. not fond of mc's clothing options (there are only three pieces that i like as of chapter 4) nor how victoria wasn't a LI (i always fall for the mean ones... glances at allegra). but i love carmen, and jirayu! beatriz feels underrated within the game's narrative and sean is giving litg gary (which i love... lowkey wanna romance him).

my only gripe (aside from the fits) is that the interests are never really relevant. i'm not caught up with the season so maybe i'll be proven wrong, but why have the option to pick interests when they're never gonna be bought up in the story? to my memory, they weren't relevant in season 1/2 either.

A random headcanon: i am really split on weather he barely eats or if he's like, a lowkey foodie. Idk why.

General Opinion over said character: For me I do view him as someone HURT by his loneliness, though in the show, if I recall right, he seems quite content? With his existance. Or says he is, and how he's drawn to it.

I will say- I partially mirror some of my own experiences of loneliness onto him. I was so afraid of opening up to people at one point that I convinced myself that I WANTED to be all alone. I used to want to move into a little cottage in the woods and cut off all contact to people. But it was a self destructive coping mechanism. At points a survival mechanism. Maybe canonically Peter Lukas is a reliable narrator?

I recall him talking about the warm glow coming from the windows of houses though, and the loneliness it made him feel- if i'm attributing this right. And i have a really hard time contributing that to anything but YEARNING. And reveling in yearning. I also have experience w that. Yearning is a DELIGHTFUL feeling.

So yeah I think I do find a lot of comfort in the version of Plukas I have in my head.

Honestly he's burrowed a little nest into my head abd become something beyond a little blorbo from my shows.

Fusing Total Drama Characters In Sims 4 (Part 1)

I’m fusing Total Drama characters in Sims 4 using the genetic mechanic.

Why?

I don’t flipping know. Why not?

I’m gonna do EVERY pairing possible. This post is just gonna be however long Tumblr allows for images.

So let’s just get into it.

I’m using my own TD Sims for this. They’re in the Gallery if you want them. As well as all these pairings and sims that get generated. So what you want.

Owen + Gwen

Here’s my Owen Sim. Here’s my Gwen Sim.

I tried to make them as show accurate as possible. So they have the shows… odd proportions.

That’s kinda what I like about Gen 1’s designs. They’re so odd, you know. You remember them. Even if they look really weird. You remember them.

Also, these sims are mod-less. I don’t use CC. So anyone can use these if you have the game. Don’t worry about that.

Im gonna use the genetics mechanic. If you don’t know, it’s the ‘Play With Genetics’ option. It’s gonna take the DNA of both these sims and make a new sim. Im gonna select both of these sims and have the ‘create their child’ setting. And Im gonna age the sim they generate up into a teen.

Im gonna do a boy and a girl.

Let’s see what Sims comes up with…

The girls name is Hana. She’s materialistic & an animal enthusiast.

The materialistic trait SCREAMS Total Drama.

I think my Heather Sim is my best of these that I made.

I tried to give her a hairstyle that combines her hairstyles throughout the show. Considering she changes about every season. And I think this one looks superb on her.

Plus I’ve always headcanoned that as an adult she’d have her hair in a bob cut like this.

So let’s see what Sims comes up with…

That boy is literally just Owen again. It’s down to a T. He has a tanner skin shade though and idk where that came from

They’re both blonde. So Owen clearly has the dominant hair color. I kinda wish the girl resembled Heather a bit more.

The boys name is Darrin. He’s a foodie & erratic. (Again, Owen down to a T)

The girls name is Roxana. She’s squeamish & a geek. (Her name is pretty, but that’s an odd trait choice for this setup)

This genetic mechanic also works for ANY Sim pairing.

What’s great about the sims is the complete lack of LGBT limitations. Especially this version.

Say what you want about Sims 4. This is refreshing compared to other games.

I can’t tell if the boy is more Owen or Duncan. I’d say he looks perfectly in the middle.

The girl just straight up does not resemble Duncan AT ALL. She looks way too wholesome of a person. I mean, I guess the bow matches his eyes, but other than that. (She also has lipstick)

The boys name is Sage. He’s a geek and self absorbed.

The girls name is Ciera. She’s a dance machine & good.

Now I know she REALLY doesn’t resemble Duncan. She’s a wholesome character according to the game.

Also, the game decided her name was Ciera… I mean it’s spelled differently I guess.

I will say Leshawna is probably the sim I’m the least happy about when designing. Idk why she just doesn’t give her vibe, you know? I tried.

i had to change my phone password today and i kept forgetting. it took me five tries to unlock this journal. work is bleak. no window, no variation, no sign of life. i understand why people hate office jobs now. it’s easy and high paying though, if that makes up for anything. what does the author of death valley say? “i only know how to experience life through writing about it”? i think that’s true for me. or at least the experience feels slower, more permanent and more real. it’s scary. i am not depressed but im struggling to stay distracted- each day is a battle of trying to keep myself busy. i think i need something to look forward to. do it for the plot, do it for the plot. i don’t want to choose, but then i am not prepared for anything. today was stressful, going to the wrong place for lunch and not getting any work afterwards. i know other people go through it too but i didn’t feel useful at all. i like to be useful during work. but i am grateful i get to listen to my books and get paid. it’ll only make it easier when school starts. a little less than a month and a half, i can make it. i’ve been through worse.

why does he joke about seeing other people? i never understand that disregard for someone else’s feelings. even if he doesn’t see it going anywhere, like i do, he could either be honest or kind. instead all we had was games. i hope he grows up. but i live for others, and he lives for himself.

what is the one thing you remember most about January of last year? Uh, not much to be honest. As far as I remember it was just a normal month.

okay so kita is the captain, right?

but he doesnt play

like he plays rarely and aran is usually the on-court captain

this causes you and him to be at the sidelines a lot

he would tell you what he thinks would happen next or what the next plan should be and you would provide your own input

in a way, he was the one who really taught you the mechanics of volleyball and he would tell you the different tricks that techniques that the twins came up with 

what makes you really soft and fall for him is when he starts to compliment his players

his pride in aran for being one of the top aces that has led them to nationals

his pride in mimi for being able to go on the longest on court and not be tired

his pride on akagi for being able to receive each ball and successfully give it to their setter

his pride on hitoshi for being the one who could handle the team personality wise and his plans for him to be his successor

his pride on ATSUmu for being the best setter he’s ever seen and his drive to get better no matter what

his pride on samu for being so strong and still getting stronger despite his dream career to be something not volleyball-related

hes kinda like suna where they dont really say much but when they do, its usually important and not irrelevant like atsumu

something that isnt known about akagi is that he, like atsumu, really likes to cook

he bakes as a stress reliever and its like his meditation time

you go over to his house a lot to go bake something w him and share it to the guys later on

during ina get-togethers, him and samu are in charged of the food while youre the sous chef

i think therell be an imagine for this so ill try to not make it as detailed

lets just say its a mess

suna really wants to go hiking bc he wants to go the top of the mountain for pictures of the stars and stuff

but atsumu whines of the bugs and possible creatures in there

this causes osamu to tease him and call him a coward and a wimp

and leads to a fight which aran tries to break up but gets sucked in anyways

and omimi just stands by and watches but he intends to intervene if it gets too much

then akagi gets taken by suna to go the hike with him even though hes scared of bugs so hes whimpering and complaining

while kita and hitoshi are off in the kitchen talking about new grains of flour and stuff

there is a lot of bonding times as a team bc these boys may seem like all they think about is volleyball but they like to do something else outside of that

what they love the most is going to the beach

the coach sent everyone off to bed and although they were allowed more days to stay, they all collectively chose to just go home and keep those excused days as a rest day

absolutely. and i think bellamy actually loves it.

you know after everything settles down, say when she comes back from her three months after mount weather and they actually manage to build the camp without all the bs, he notices that she's lost so much weight.

it looks unhealthy.

he knows that he's not been eating much either, that he's been favoring his moonshine more than the rations Monty always shoves in his hands but he doesn't consider it a big deal.

he never ate much anyway, you know. he was never a food person, it was how his life went and it hadn't changed with time.

it takes clarke months to get better, she stays close to her mom and their relationship is very tentative to say the very least.

he's not great at talking and he's still angry but with time that slowly starts fading away.

he spends a lot of time in the garden he and monty have been growing. since jasper's too drunk and sad to help out it's mostly him and miller who do the heavy work and bellamy found himself enjoying it a lot.

he often does most of the work while monty and miller kiss in the bushes nearby and he pretends he's not seeing it even though inside he's happy and even a little jealous.

one night he overhears kane and abby talk about clarke; he was coming in from a guard shift and as usually he had to report to kane, give in his weapon and arrange the next round for tomorrow or the whole week; often time kane asked hi out to stay they drank moonshine and talked some and bellamy knew the older man was doing it for him, because he could see how much he hurt;

but lately every time he came by he could hear kane talk to abby; she's been a frequient visitor in his office and bellamy wasn't missing the soft looks or smiles they exchanged but just like with monty and miller, he kept quiet;

"she's barely eating and she only sleeps when im holding her." he hears abby say, her voice breaking a little "i dont know what to do. i thought getting her back would fix everything but i just feel...helpless now."

"we'll get her there, don't worry, it'll just take time." kane promises and bellamy peaks through the crack of the door watching as kane held abby in his arms and rubbed her back "she'll be okay."

"if she keeps it that way, she'll get herself sick." abby whispers fearfully and that makes bellamy's heart skip a few beats;

so after that night he decides to take matters into his own hands-he starts picking up the cucumbers and tomatoes from the garden and he cuts them off in a special way, adds seasoning, some oil and brings it over to clarke while she's working on some blueprints about extending the camp's permeter.

"what's that?"

"just salad."

"just salad??" she asks confused "why?"

"Monty and I are trying out these new seeds and we want to know which ones are the best so we can keep them for next year." he lies, knowing she'll never take it otherwise "We're letting people try them out." Clarke raises her eyebrows but he's gone before she can argue and when she mindlessly picks at the tomato later on she finds that she loves it;

then he digs out the potatoes, fries them and seasons them for her, adds the jerky he got from his own ration and brings it to her late one evening;

then there's carrots mixed with sweet apples and some raspberries which may sound awful but it's actually a great combination for breakfast;

he slowly brings her back to eating, to loving it, to life; so much that clarke wouldn't take anything from the kitchen and wait for bellamy to bring her something he cooked himself;

later on when they get together, she's the type of person to steal half his fries while he's not looking and he smiles when she does so, happy to be pretending that he's oblivious to it all;

the only other time clarke's barely eating is when she first gets pregnant with their son and bellamy feels like no matter what he gives her, he's failing because she wouldn't touch it and she starts losing weight again;

he's silly enough not to know that her body just needed some time and when a few weeks pass, he comes home to her so hungry she's munching on a piece of old somewhat molded bread and he laughs when he sees her because she looks like a starving predator;

months later when they hold Gus in their arms and he's feeding off of her eagerly, bellamy chuckles and leans down to kiss her lips;

"One thing's for sure-that kid's gonna be a foodie like his mom."

it earns him a slap on the shoulder and a pouty look from her but he kisses it away and boops her nose while gus munches eagerly on his mom's breast and smacks as loudly as clarke did when she ate bellamy's potatoes;

It’s kind of hard for me to talk about myself like this just here it goes! Haha

Im very much an introvert, and being around people truly does drain the life out of me. Why I chose a job in the mental health field, who knows. I guess I just really like to know I’m having an impact on someone, anyone, whether it’s one person in the world or several. Anything counts :)

I’ve always felt like I wasn’t meant to be here in this world just for the mundane 9-5, though. Music has always really been my true passion and I’ve been seriously singing, songwriting, and performing since I was 4 years old. I’ve always had really intense issues with my self-esteem and body image, though, leading to lifelong social anxiety and depression. So I haven’t performed much in the last 8 years. I never stop writing or singing, though, and I began releasing music (finally) over the last two years!

I also just really love all animals, reading, learning new random weird things (because why not?), trying new foods (I’m truly a foodie), anything involving history or Harry Potter, and my favorite outing would have to be strolling through a museum with someone I love. I keep my circle small and close, but id fight to the death to protect those I care about.
